#434 Rich 12 inch Patriotic “Ciphered” Clip Point Bowie Knife. Ricasso marking THEODOR A. MEYER. Made in Sheffield, England for New York City merchant Theodor A. Meyer, ca. 1849. Stag handle with nickel silver guard and pommel cap, clip point blade and deeply stamped with markings:
THE GREAT FAR WEST HUNTING KNIFE in banner; with eagle head, running hound dogs, a bull, a lion with TRY ME, a liberty cap with LIBERTY, a lion, bust of Mexican War hero General Zachary Taylor with OLD ZAK, a Native American with bow and arrows, and a rooster.
